What will you be learning in this internship?

Day 1: Medical & Non-Medical Departments (AM) and Medical History (PM)

In the morning, Interns will explore different hospital departments and understand how each contributes to patient care. They will learn how collaboration among departments ensures comprehensive care. In the afternoon, interns will gain skills in taking accurate patient histories, identifying key symptoms, and understanding how this information informs clinical decisions and diagnoses.

Day 2: Introduction to Paediatrics (AM) and Orthopaedics (PM)

In the morning session, interns will study child development, common illnesses, and preventive care strategies. They will also explore how paediatricians communicate with children and families. In the afternoon, interns will learn about bone and joint conditions, fracture management, and rehabilitation methods. They will understand how musculoskeletal issues are diagnosed and treated.

Day 3: Introduction to Gynaecology (AM) and Cardiology (PM)

In the morning, interns will explore reproductive health, prenatal care, and women’s health issues. They will learn how to conduct assessments and provide appropriate patient counseling. While the afternoon session has to do with cardiology. Interns will study heart health, cardiovascular diseases, and common diagnostic tests like ECGs. They will explore treatment plans and lifestyle recommendations for patients.

Day 4: Introduction Dermatology (AM) and Neurology (PM)

In the morning session, Interns will learn about common skin conditions, their treatments, and minor dermatological procedures. They will also study skin health promotion and preventive care. While in the afternoon session, interns will learn about Neurology. Interns will explore the nervous system, common neurological disorders, and diagnostic methods.

Day 5: Reflection  (AM)  and Final Assessment (PM)

In the morning session, interns will reflect on their experience and write a 300-word reflection on the department that resonates most with them, focusing on its role in healthcare. In the afternoon session, interns will complete a 25-question quiz covering all topics from the internship. A pass mark of 80% is required to earn a certificate of participation.

Certification

This internship meets international standards to reflect medicine as a global discipline. Upon successful completion, interns will receive a certificate of participation as proof of their internship.
